Story
When: Sat 20th April
Where: Old Colfeians RFC from 12... first game begins at 1pm
Bouncy Castles, Slides, Ball Pools, Food Trucks, DJ...
Rycroft Alport Foster, a beautiful baby boy, died last summer aged just 16 months old, from an infection while recovering from a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant that was his only chance of life due to the severity of his genetic condition - Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (SDS).
I'm Andrew, Rycroft's dad, and I'm delighted that we will have teams from:
- my old school (as a pupil) Bradford Grammar
- my university college, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge
- my school (as a teacher) and the club I still play for, Colfe's / Old Colfeians RFC
all playing to raise money for Rycroft's three charities, all of which helped him in his life and are helping other children like him right now.
Those three charities are
- Great Ormond Street Hospital Fox Ward
- Colchester Hospital Children's Ward
- SDS UK
With the help of people like you, we've already been able to donate £60,000 to Rycorft's charities, and we hope to this event will help us raise even more for them.
The best consolation we could ever have hoped for is that Rycroft's story helps other children like him go home to their families, happy and healthy.
Thank you.
Andrew Foster and Catherine Alport - Rycroft's mum and dad
