Rycroft Alport Foster, our beautiful baby boy, died last summer aged just 16 months old, from an infection while recovering from a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant that was his only chance of life due to the severity of his genetic condition - Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (SDS).

I'm Andrew Foster, (Rycroft's dad) and with Steven Millward, Nathan Penny-Larter, Alfred Weiss, Rob Wilkinson and Mike Creswick, five of my closest friends of 30 years and more, we will be running the Leeds marathon in memory of Rycroft, raising money for Rycroft's three charities, all of which helped him in his life and are helping other children like him get home to their families, happy and healthy.

- Great Ormond Street Hospital Fox Ward, where he had the stem cell transplant that gave him hope of life.

- Colchester Hospital Children's Ward, where he received fantastic care through much of his short life.

- SDS UK, the sole charity in the UK dedicated to helping children and adults with the rare genetic condition that Rycroft had.
